Brutalist Plants

Brutalist architecture is commonly assumed to be cold and austere, but architects have long found ways of incorporating greenery into their designs, creating a juxtaposition of hard concrete and the soft, organic shapes of plants. Moreover, left to its own devices, nature finds a way of reclaiming the built environment. Taking in green roofs and living walls, the pocket gardens of Le Corbusier's Unite d'Habitation and the courtyards and conservatory of the Barbican Centre, this book contains 150 images of brutalist structures interrogated by nature.
